Instamythologies

A three-part, three year, self-dreicted series on Instagram used the platform as the medium, point of critique and exhibition space. Questioning hyperreality, reverberations ‘likes’ and the collective production of these.

InstaPhotographer

#Instaphotographer mimics the urban photographer trends on Instagram, utilising the same editing suite and aesthetic gaming followers and illustrating that mimicking is what works on the platform –

“we just want copies.”

InstaHomeless

InstaHomeless inverted the widespread and over-saturation of motivational quotes on the platform by interviewing and taking quotes from homeless people throughout London and presenting them in the same aesthetic. Resulting in discussions about mental health and political views on homelessness.

InstaHot

InstaHot highlighted the trending homogenisation of female beauty on the platform, starting from the original catalyst Kim Kardashian West, while the remainder embodied Warhol’s ‘original fakes’.
